We have the funniest tests around... So in order for our products to go into certain dangerous plants, we have to perform a series of tests. Talking with the group that does these tests, they have some pretty hilarious procedures. One of them being the "drop & topple" test. Where they put it on a standard height table, angle the device 45 degrees and drop it on the floor. If it turns on and gives an output with good status, it passes. And then there is the IP20 rating test. Where they take a stick with a fake finger on it, and it's the deluxe version where the finger can bend, and they poke it to see if it is enclosed properly. How silly would you feel doing these tests? I bet they are super professional and wear white lab coats with goggles, too. LMAO |

Cooking Class
Signed up for a Thai cooking class that the Chaska Community Center is giving. They teach you how to make spring rolls, pad thai and a dessert. Get to eat it there, and take the recipe/instructions home. Only costs $30 - which is the cost of dinner, so it is a good deal. Thai is my boy's favorite food. They also have a sushi class that I am going to sign up for - but that isn't until May. So I will hold off on that. The Thai class is in January. |

Annual Review
Oh, and I had my annual review with my boss. She said that I had much more experience than others of my same tenure and it shows. In response, our president gave me his pet project to execute. Yay? But that is one more thing to add on to my list... |

Vacation
So I keep thinking that my trip to MI is farther away than it is. I haven't begun packing yet. I haven't finished wrapping the presents yet, actually. That probably needs to be finished tonight. Trying to solidify dates, at the same time I am trying to wrap up a lot of time critical items at work...tough balance. Now, back to the work part. |

Out to Minneapolis
So we went out to Minneapolis last night. Met Christian and Derek for dinner then watched the Holidazzle parade. Then went to Macy's 8th floor to walk through a life of an elf. That was cute. And we went to Dereks and made the mushroom that the boy tweeted about. Eventually headed home around 1am. We don't go to the cities often enough, actually. Tonight we are going to Oklahoma at the dinner theater. |

haha okay so this is the best ever I commented on an LJ post. A procmail recipe forwards a quick summary of the post to my cell phone via sms. I'm holding the boy, who's asleep in my arms. His butt happens to be on my cell phone, which happens to be on vibrate. Hilarity ensues as the sleeping baby freaks out for a second, makes a weird freaked out squeak noise. He then falls immediately asleep again. KIDS ARE HILARIOUS AND AWESOME GUYS Current Mood: amused |

Snow Day!
So it just kept snowing and snowing last night. We live in Carver County. And my boss just sent an email saying to stay and work from home - yay! Because even though the plows did come through our association last night, the wind just put the snow right back where it was. There is about 7 inches in our drive way right now and I don't know if I could get out if I wanted to. Now to cuddle up in my PJs, with my kitty and set the thermostat to 70 degrees... |

First Snow
Normally it takes me 15 minutes to get home, today it took me 50 minutes. Getting about 6 inches of snow, and at every intersection on the way home there were accidents. It's the worst on the first snow of the year, it's like that day people just go crazy and drive like morons. Way to go. On another note, one of the guys I am in Weight Watchers with just found out that he has prostate cancer. He is the sweetest guy ever, and the only male in our WW group. Normally he is pretty interactive during our meetings. He was pretty down about it, understandably. But his doctor had given him some interesting advice. They aren't treating it yet, because prostate is pretty slow growing and it isn't to a level that warrants immediate attention. But he is also making him give up his caffeine intake. I don't really understand why... But it begs the question on whether I really need to drink coffee every morning and any diet soda? I think that I will try giving it up for a while and see what happens... |
